Quest Engineering MX10S 10 inch Compact Installation Subwoofer

Overview

The MX10S is the larger of the two MX Series subwoofers, built for installs that need proper low end under a distributed or zoned system. A custom 10 inch woofer with a 50 mm voice coil and dual magnets gives 96 dB sensitivity and 118 dB maximum SPL from a low profile birch plywood cabinet, with 300 watts RMS and 600 watts peak handling at 8 ohm. Response runs 44 Hz to 90 Hz, so it sits neatly under MX surface boxes or MX4C and MX6C ceiling speakers without muddying the mids.

The cabinet is finished in low sheen polyurea in black (RAL 9004) as the MX10SB or white (RAL 9003) as the MX10SW, with no grille, so it reads as a plain box on a wall or ceiling. Connection is Euroblock in and through for clean daisy chaining. The optional MP10S plate in matching black or white mounts it to a wall, ceiling or other structure. It suits bars, restaurants, gyms, function rooms, foyers and retail fitouts where a couple of subs fill in the bottom end for background and foreground music. Being passive, it needs an amp channel with a low pass filter; the QX4300 and QX41500 have 100 Hz LPF per channel, and the QXD series adds full DSP and Quest presets. For smaller rooms the MX6S is the compact option.
