Overview
The MX4C is the compact in-ceiling speaker in Quest's MX Series, for spaces where there is not much room above the ceiling but you still want full range sound rather than a basic paging driver. It pairs a custom die cast aluminium 4 inch woofer with a 1 inch titanium dome tweeter in a fire rated ABS baffle and an aluminium back can that helps with heat. Response is 79 Hz to 20 kHz with 160 by 130 degree dispersion, so a modest number of units covers an office, classroom or shopfront evenly.
You can run it at 16 ohm or on 70/100V lines, selected on the front baffle, with transformer taps of 4, 8, 15 and 30 watts at 100V. HF attenuation controls sit behind the rimless magnetic grille, so nothing shows but the grille once it is in. The cut out is 170 mm and it weighs 2.0 kg. It comes in black (RAL 9004) as the MX4CB or white (RAL 9003) as the MX4CW; check the price shown for your colour.
It is voiced to match the rest of the MX range, so you can mix it with MX6C ceiling units and MX surface boxes across zones and the venue sounds consistent. For tile ceilings use the QRING4 ring or QRAILKIT4 kit. Add an MX6S or MX10S sub where music matters, and drive it from a QX4300 on 100V or a QXD amp if you want DSP.
