Overview
The MX6C takes the acoustic design of Quest's MX surface speakers and puts it in the ceiling. It is a two-way box with a 6 inch woofer and 1 inch dome tweeter, rated 75 W RMS at 16 ohm with 100V taps of 10, 20, 30 and 40 W (70V: 5, 10, 15 and 20 W), so it runs on a conventional 100V line or as a low impedance load off a QXD1K or QX500A. Frequency response is 70 Hz to 20 kHz at minus 6 dB and sensitivity is 91 dB, a full-range ceiling speaker rather than a background music tile.
It is voiced to match the wall-mounted MX6 and MX8, so a venue with surface speakers in the main room and ceiling speakers in the foyer and corridors sounds consistent from zone to zone. The 130 degree conical dispersion covers a wide area per unit, which keeps speaker count down in offices and classrooms. The rimless magnetic grille and fire-resistant aluminium back can suit commercial ceilings. Each speaker ships with grille, cut-out tool, cable restraint and a spare LTMXC locking tab, and the Euroblock input loops through for daisy chaining.
It suits offices, boardrooms, classrooms, church foyers, retail and hospitality, and any distributed system that needs music quality in the ceiling. Pair it with the MX6S or MX10S subwoofer, add the QRAILKIT6 rail kit in suspended ceilings, and use the QRING6 or HGMXC6 where a mounting ring or hanging grille is needed. Black (RAL 9004) or white (RAL 9003), same price.
