Quest Engineering MX6S 6 inch Compact Installation Subwoofer

Overview

The MX6S is a compact passive subwoofer that fills in the bottom end under Quest MX surface and ceiling speakers in commercial and hospitality installs. A custom 6 inch woofer with a 38 mm voice coil and die cast frame gives punchy but controlled bass for low to mid SPL rooms, with 150 watts RMS and 300 watts peak handling at 8 ohm, 88 dB sensitivity and 106 dB maximum SPL. Response is 44 Hz to 90 Hz, so it hands over cleanly to MX4C or MX6C ceiling speakers and MX surface boxes.

The cabinet is low profile birch plywood at 361 by 361 by 169 mm and 6 kg, finished in low sheen polyurea in black (RAL 9004) as the MX6SB or white (RAL 9003) as the MX6SW. There is no grille, so it disappears against a wall or ceiling. Connection is Euroblock in and through. Check the price shown for your colour selection.

It suits cafes, boardrooms, retail, small bars, waiting areas and open plan offices where background music needs some weight without a big box in the room. Mount it to a wall or ceiling with the matching MP6S plate in black or white. Being passive it needs an amp channel with a low pass filter; the QX4300 has a 100 Hz LPF on every channel, and the QXD-1K adds DSP with Quest presets. Where you need more output, step up to the MX10S.
