Quest Engineering MX8 8 inch Two-Way Weatherproof Surface Speaker

Overview

The MX8 is the largest surface mount speaker in Quest's MX Series. Step up to it when a 6 inch box runs out of puff: outdoor dining terraces, beer gardens, school quadrangles, gym floors, church halls and public spaces where you need real low end and headroom without adding a subwoofer. An 8 inch woofer and 1 inch dome tweeter deliver 112 dB maximum SPL with response down to 80 Hz.

Operation is switchable between 16 ohm and 70V/100V, with 100V taps at 20, 30, 40 and 60 W, so it suits both distributed line systems and low impedance amplifiers like the Quest QX and QXD ranges. The injection moulded ASA enclosure and powder coated aluminium grille are rated IP55, rising to IP65 with the included connector cover fitted, which covers most Australian outdoor installs.

The UB1X wall bracket is included and allows precise aiming, and the optional UB2X ceiling bracket handles overhead mounting. At 372 x 223 x 252 mm and 5.9 kg it is still a manageable one-person install. The MX8 is voiced to match the rest of the MX range so it blends with MX6 surface speakers and MX ceiling models elsewhere in the venue. Available in black (RAL 9004) or white (RAL 9003); the white version may be priced differently.
