Overview
The DMI-OPTO puts a DiGiCo Orange Box or 4REA4 onto an Optocore fibre loop. This version has HMA expanded beam connectors for single-mode fibre. With a second DMI card in the Orange Box it bridges Optocore to Dante, MADI, Waves and other formats.
How the versions differ: The code gives the connector (OPNC = opticalCON, OPST = ST, OPTO = HMA) and a trailing S means single-mode fibre; no S means multi-mode. The multi-mode twin of this card is MODDMIOPTO.
Highlights
- Optocore loop interface on a DMI card
- Up to 128 channels I/O at 48 kHz or 64 at 96 kHz
- HMA expanded beam connectors
- Single-Mode fibre
- 1G or 2G fibre speeds
Compatibility
Works with: DiGiCo Orange Box (either slot) and DiGiCo 4REA4. DiGiCo does not list this card for consoles; Quantum and SD12 use their own Optocore ports. All six versions:
- MODDMIOPNC: opticalCON, multi-mode
- MODDMIOPNCS: opticalCON, single-mode
- MODDMIOPST: ST, multi-mode
- MODDMIOPSTS: ST, single-mode
- MODDMIOPTO: HMA, multi-mode
- MODDMIOPTOS: HMA, single-mode

Forefront Tip
Single-mode is the usual choice for long runs and venue or broadcast tie lines. Never mix single-mode and multi-mode on one link, so check the venue fibre before ordering. HMA expanded beam copes best with dusty touring conditions.
