Overview
The DiGiCo Orange Box is a 2U format converter that turns any two DiGiCo DMI cards into a bridge between audio networks. Fit a card in Slot A and another in Slot B and the box passes audio between them, so MADI can go to Dante, Optocore to Hydra 2, analogue to AES and so on. Two power supplies are fitted as standard for redundancy.
Because it uses the same DMI cards as the S Series, Quantum and SD consoles, the Orange Box can be configured for nearly any job and reconfigured later by swapping cards. DiGiCo lists cards including DMI-DANTE, DMI-DANTE64@96, DMI-MADI-B, DMI-MADI-C, DMI-OPTO, DMI-HYDRA 2, DMI-WAVES, DMI-AES, DMI-ADC, DMI-DAC, DMI-MIC, DMI-AVIOM, DMI-ME, DMI-KLANG and DMI-AVB. That makes it a handy tool for touring systems, broadcast splits, hire companies and venues that need to tie a DiGiCo rig into an existing house network. DMI cards are sold separately.

Forefront Tip
A common job for the Orange Box is feeding a Dante recording or broadcast rig from an SD-Rack MADI stream. Fit a DMI-MADI-B and a DMI-DANTE, set both to the same sample rate, and the console keeps its own MADI loop untouched. Run both PSUs from separate power circuits so a tripped outlet does not take the bridge down.
