Overview
A complete 100V background music package for foyers, reception areas, cafés, retail spaces and corridors, built around Quest MX Series weatherproof wall speakers. Each kit includes the speakers with their wall brackets, a Quest amplifier and the speaker cable, sized by floor area so you can choose the right package without working out speaker counts, taps and amplifier loads yourself.
What is included in each option
Every package includes the wall speakers with brackets, one amplifier and the speaker cable. The Standard amp option is a Quest QX4300 (no DSP). The DSP amp option is a Quest QXD-1K or QXD-2K, depending on the size. The colour option sets the speaker colour; the amplifier and cable are the same for white and black.

- 200 to 350 m², 8x MX8 speakers: 8x MX8 wall speakers with UB1X brackets, 1x QX4300 or 1x QXD-2K amplifier, 2x 100 m rolls of ATC8050 2 x 1.5 mm² speaker cable
A music source, mixer or paging microphone is not included.
Where wall speakers suit
Wall speakers suit rooms where the ceiling can't be cut, such as concrete slabs, heritage ceilings, exposed services or glazed atriums. The speakers mount at about 2.6 m and angle down into the room, spread around the space to give even, low level music and announcements rather than one loud spot. All speakers run on a 100V line, so long cable runs and many speakers on one amplifier channel are not a problem.
Choosing a size
Pick the size that covers your floor area. Packages are designed for a 3.0 m ceiling. If your ceiling is 2.7 m or lower, choose the next size up.

The largest size uses the 8 inch MX8 for its longer throw, so each speaker covers more floor. Every speaker runs on its 30 W tap, which leaves at least 25% headroom on each amplifier channel.
Amplifier options
- Standard amp, QX4300 (no DSP): a simple 1RU four channel amplifier, 4 x 240 W at 100V direct, with 80 Hz high pass and 100 Hz low pass switches and thermal, over current, DC and HF protection. Set it and leave it.
- DSP amp with speaker protection: a Quest QXD-1K (2 x 300 W bridged at 100V) for the two smaller sizes, or a QXD-2K (4 x 300 W at 100V direct) for the two larger sizes. Both have 32 bit, 96 kHz DSP with FIR and IIR filters, peak and RMS limiters, delay and Quest speaker libraries, plus RJ45 and GPIO for control and monitoring. The limiters protect the speakers when staff turn the music up.
The QXD-1K costs less than the QX4300, so at the two smaller sizes the DSP package is also the cheaper one.
Adding subwoofers
Amplifier channels 3 and 4 are left free in every package. Add the Quest Foyer Subwoofer Add-on in the same size to bring in low end for retail and hospitality music. It suits either amplifier option.
