Everything you need for 2, 4, 6 or 8 channels of Sennheiser EW-D handheld wireless in one matched kit. Single channel EM receivers, SKM-S handheld transmitters, active antenna distribution and directional antennas, all on the same frequency band so it works together out of the box.
What makes EW-D different
- Names that stay put: the E-Ink display on each handheld keeps the channel name showing, even with the battery out, so no more labels or writing on electrical tape.
- Set up from your phone: the Smart Assist app connects over Bluetooth, so you can set up, check and adjust the system without standing at the rack.
- Auto scan: the receivers find clear channels for you, so setup takes minutes even if radio frequencies aren't your thing.
- Room to grow: evenly spaced digital channels let you run up to 90 systems side by side without interference.
- Flexible power: up to 12 hours on a BA 70 rechargeable pack, or run on 2x AA batteries.
- Rack ready: half rack receivers mount neatly in a standard 19 inch rack.
Who it's for
Churches, schools, conference rooms and venues that want dependable digital handheld mics for presenters, worship leaders and vocalists, at a sharper price point than EW-DX. Setup is quick: the receivers scan for clear channels and sync to the mics at the press of a button.
Choose your size
- 2 channels: 2x EM receivers, 2x SKM-S handhelds with 2x MMD 945 capsules, 1x EW-D ASA.
- 4 channels: 4x EM receivers, 4x SKM-S handhelds with 4x MMD 945 capsules, 1x EW-D ASA.
- 6 channels: 6x EM receivers, 6x SKM-S handhelds with 2x MMD 935 for speech and 4x MMD 945 for vocalists, 2x EW-D ASA.
- 8 channels: 8x EM receivers, 8x SKM-S handhelds with 2x MMD 935 for speech and 6x MMD 945 for vocalists, 2x EW-D ASA.
Included in every kit
- EW-D ASA active antenna splitter, each with its own power supply
- 2x ADP UHF directional antennas
- 1x 5 m and 1x 10 m RG 58 antenna cable
- 6 and 8 channel kits: 2x 0.25 m BNC cables to link the two ASAs
Each EW-D ASA feeds and powers up to four receivers from a single power point, so there are no separate power packs to manage. The 6 and 8 channel kits use two ASAs linked together, sharing the same pair of antennas, and the two short BNC cables that link them are included. The antenna system is the same across every size, so a smaller kit can grow later by adding receivers, handhelds and a second ASA.
Why 9 series capsules
Sennheiser offers EW-D sets with 8 series capsules, but at Forefront we bundle the pro level MMD 935 and MMD 945. EW-D carries a clean, full range digital signal, and the 9 series capsules make the most of it with clearer vocals, better feedback rejection and a more polished sound through your PA.
Choosing a frequency band
Every receiver and transmitter in the kit is on the same band. Choose from R1-6 (520 to 576 MHz), R4-9 (550 to 607.8 MHz), S1-7 (606 to 662 MHz) or S7-10 (662 to 693.8 MHz). All four are legal to use in Australia. Which one is best depends on the TV channels in your area, so tell us your postcode and we'll recommend the clearest band.
Keep them charged
The SKM-S handhelds run on 2x AA batteries or a BA 70 rechargeable pack. Add the EW-D rechargeable battery set (an L 70 USB charger with 2x BA 70 packs) to stop buying batteries every week.
Forefront Tip
The MMD 935 suits speech and presenters with a natural, forgiving pickup. The MMD 945 has a tighter pattern that rejects stage noise and foldback, so it's the pick for vocalists in a loud band. Mount the directional antennas in clear line of sight to the stage, and keep them at least a metre apart.
