Overview
The AR84 is a 1U, 48kHz dSNAKE AudioRack with 8 mic preamps and 4 balanced line outputs on XLR. It connects to the mixer or an upstream expander with a single Cat5 cable up to 100 m, and the preamps are recalled from the console like local inputs.
It is the small one of the family. Use it as a compact stage drop for a lectern, a choir position or a band's side fill, or chain it off the expander port of an AR2412 or AB168 to add 8 inputs and 4 outputs to an existing dSNAKE run. Integrated rack ears make it easy to bolt into a wall rack or a small road case.
Highlights
- 8 mic/line preamps with up to +60 dB gain and -20 dB pad
- 4 balanced, relay protected XLR line outputs
- dSNAKE protocol, 48kHz, single Cat5 run up to 100 m
- 1U 19 inch chassis with integrated rack ears
- Chains from AR2412 or AB168 expander ports
- Firmware handled automatically by the mixer
Compatibility
Works with: Allen & Heath SQ and SQ+ (SLink in dSNAKE mode), Avantis and Avantis Solo (SLink), Qu mixers, AHM audio matrix processors and legacy GLD. It can also hang off the expander port of an AR2412 or AB168.
AR84 is legacy 48kHz dSNAKE, not DX. It is not compatible with dLive, the DX Hub, DX Link or CQ mixers. For 96kHz systems look at the DX88-P or DX168.

Forefront Tip
On an SQ the AR84 is the easy way to add a few inputs at a second stage position: run it from the AR2412 expander port instead of using up the SLink, and keep the SLink free for a bigger box.
