Overview
The AHM-64 is the flagship of Allen & Heath's install matrix range: a 2U, 96kHz FPGA processor with a 64 x 64 matrix and configurable processing on all 64 outputs. It suits churches, schools, corporate meeting rooms and boardrooms, hospitality venues, clubs and multi room venues where you need zoning, paging and simple user control rather than a mixing console.
Locally you get 12 mic/line inputs and 12 relay protected line outputs on Phoenix, plus a built in SLink port for A&H expanders and an I/O port for one audio networking card up to 128 x 128. Every input has gate, 8-band PEQ, compression and delay; every zone has a source selector, PEQ, 28-band GEQ, compressor, delay, ANC and limiter, and outputs can run as speaker processing with 2, 3 or 4-way crossovers. Eight automatic mic mixers handle up to 64 mics, and the optional processing expansion module adds 12 channels of acoustic echo cancelling or up to 8 feedback suppression engines.
Setup is done in AHM System Manager for Mac and Windows, with room combining, an event scheduler, TCP/IP control and Crestron, AMX and Extron drivers. A 12V DC backup input runs alongside mains for redundancy.
Highlights
- 64 x 64 matrix, 96kHz FPGA core, under 1 ms analogue latency
- 12 mic/line in, 12 relay protected line out on Phoenix
- Built in SLink port for DX, GX, AB and AR expanders
- I/O port for Dante, MADI, Waves or SLink cards, up to 128 x 128
- 8 automatic mic mixers, up to 64 mic sources (gain sharing or NOM)
- Optional M-AHM-64-AX module: 12 ch AEC or 8 FBS engines
- ANC, priority ducking, room combining up to 16 rooms, event scheduler
- Supports up to 96 IP remote controllers, plus GPIO and Custom Control
Compatibility
Works with:
- I/O port (SQ size, one card): M-SQ-DANT64 for Dante 64 x 64 at 96kHz or 48kHz (AES67, DDM ready), M-SQ-MADI, M-SQ-WAVES3-A and M-SQ-SLINK-A. The original M-SQ-DANTE (V1) card is not supported. dLive cards do not fit.
- Built in SLink port: DX168, DX164-W, DX012 and DX88-P (up to 2 daisy chained), DX32, DX-HUB (up to 8 DX expanders), GX4816 at 96kHz; AB168, AR2412 and AR84 at 48kHz dSNAKE (up to 2). Also links 128 x 128 to SQ, Avantis, another AHM or a gigaACE equipped dLive.
- Dante expanders (with M-SQ-DANT64 fitted): DT168, DT164-W, plus DT02, DT20 and DT22 interfaces on the Dante network.
- Control: IP1, IP6, IP8 remotes and the 8 x 8 GPIO interface (up to 8 on the network), CC-7 and CC-10 touch panels running Custom Control.
- Processing expansion slot: M-AHM-64-AX (AHM-64 only).
Dante is optional, not fitted as standard. AEC needs firmware V1.10 or later and FBS needs V1.60 or later.

Forefront Tip
Spec the M-SQ-DANT64 card up front if the venue has any Dante gear, then use the built in SLink port for a DX168 or GX4816 on stage and keep the Dante card free for the network. In rooms with conference calls or lecture capture, add the M-AHM-64-AX at install time so you are not pulling the lid off a live system later.
Forefront Productions is an authorised Allen & Heath dealer in Newcastle NSW. We ship Australia wide and can help you spec the full AHM system, from expanders to wall controllers.
