Overview
The AES42 input card connects digital microphones straight into a DiGiCo SD rack. AES42 lets the console control processing inside the mic, such as gain and filters, and because the signal is digitised at the capsule several analogue gain stages are removed.
The card has four AES42 inputs, each taking a mono or stereo mic, so it carries up to 8 channels.
Highlights
- 4 AES42 digital mic inputs, mono or stereo
- Up to 8 audio channels
- Sample rate conversion, switchable per input
- Selectable pre attenuation
- Hot pluggable
Compatibility
Works with: DiGiCo SD-Rack (14 slots, 10RU), SD-MiNi Rack (4 slots, 4RU) and SD-Nano Rack (2 slots, 2RU), in both MADI and Optocore (HMA, opticalCON, ST) frames. The rack then connects to SD12, S21, S31, Quantum 225, Quantum 326 and Quantum 338 consoles over MADI (console BNC ports or a DMI-MADI-B card) or over an Optocore loop.
In an SD-Rack this card goes in one of the seven input slots (input and I/O cards share the input side). In an SD-MiNi or SD-Nano it can go in any slot.

Forefront Tip
A mono AES42 mic uses one of the two channels on its input, so plan for 4 mics per card if you are running mono models such as typical digital vocal and instrument mics.
