Overview
The DiGiCo S31 takes the S21 platform and adds a third 10 inch multi touch screen and a third bank of faders, for 31 touch sensitive motorised faders and control of 30 channels at once. You still get 48 input flex channels (mono or stereo, the equivalent of 96 DSP channels), 46 buses and DiGiCo's 96 kHz audio, all in a frame that will travel in a car.
The rear panel has 24 mic/line inputs, 12 line outputs, two AES/EBU I/O, word clock, GPI/GPO, DVI out, two Ethernet ports and a headphone amp. For recording there is a UB MADI interface plus an integrated USB2 audio interface for up to 48 channels. Two DMI slots, each up to 64 I/O, take Analogue, MADI, Dante, Waves SoundGrid or Calrec Hydra 2 cards, and the DMI SoundGrid card unlocks 32 stereo Waves MultiRacks with up to eight plug-ins each. The S31 suits bands, touring engineers, theatres, churches and hire companies who want more hands on control than the S21 without moving up to a full SD console.
