Overview
The Qi18S is the high output subwoofer in Quest's Qi Series of installation loudspeakers, built for music playback and sound reinforcement in fixed venues. A long excursion 18 inch driver in a low profile marine plywood enclosure delivers 100.6 dB sensitivity and 137.4 dB maximum SPL, with 1200 watts RMS and 2400 watts peak handling at 8 ohm. Response is 35 Hz to 140 Hz, which gives it the reach for live music and the headroom for a nightclub or a contemporary worship band without running out of puff.
The cabinet is coated in polyurea and fronted with an aluminium grille backed by acoustic fabric, so it will stand up to years in a venue. It is Euroblock connected for permanent wiring and finished in black (RAL 9004) only. At 790 by 600 by 510 mm and 46.7 kg it is a serious box, so plan the rigging or a solid floor position.
It is designed to sit under Qi Series full range loudspeakers, and the Quest QXD amplifiers carry presets for it, so a QXD-10K running Qi tops and Qi18S subs is a matched system straight out of the box. Think larger churches, live music venues, nightclubs, auditoriums, school performing arts centres and outdoor covered stages. One or two per side is typical depending on room size and programme. For smaller rooms and background music the MX6S and MX10S are the compact options.
