Overview
The DiGiCo SD-Rack is DiGiCo's flagship stage rack, with 14 hot swappable card slots for up to 56 inputs and 56 outputs and analogue converters that are 192 kHz ready. It can connect to the console over Optocore optical fibre or MADI. At 48 kHz the two MADI ins and outs give 56 fully redundant channels via duplicate connections; at 96 kHz the dual MADI ports carry the full 56 channels.
On an optical loop the rack runs at 96 kHz and can still provide a down sampled 48 kHz feed from one MADI stream, which is ideal for a broadcast split. Gain Tracking gives every console on the loop ±40 dB of digital gain, so FOH, monitors and broadcast can each trim their own mix without touching anyone else. Up to 14 racks can share a single optical loop, or 28 on a dual loop, with up to five consoles on one loop. Cards are auto identified and the power supply is top mounted and hot swappable. As listed, our package is the 10RU frame with two PSUs, 14 slots, two BNC MADI, two splits, rack kit, 2 x 5 m and 2 x 100 m BNC cables. It suits touring, festivals, broadcast and hire companies.

Forefront Tip
Run both MADI pairs on every show, even when you only need one, and label primary and secondary at both ends. If a BNC gets crushed under a road case the redundant link keeps you live, and the spare 5 m leads cover patching to an Orange Box or recording split at FOH.
